Dealing with social collision? Find easy ways to handle it.

Okay, today I want to share my experience about social collision. Let me tell you, it was a ride.

Dealing with social collision? Find easy ways to handle it.

I started by looking into how to figure out when things are about to crash into each other. I mean, not literally, but you know, in a digital way. I found some stuff about how anxiety can be a protective thing, but that’s not really what I was after. I dug deeper.

I stumbled upon this idea of calculating the closest points between two objects. It sounded complicated, but basically, I had to find the shortest distance between two things. So I tried this method called GJK. It was tough, but I managed to get some distances.

Then, I moved on to figuring out how far these things could move without hitting each other. I used the distances I got from GJK and plugged them into some formulas. It felt like I was doing some serious math, but I was determined to make it work.

After a bunch of tries, I finally got it. I could see when things were going to collide. It was like, “Hey, you’re getting too close! Back off!” It was a bit messy, and I probably made some mistakes along the way, but in the end, I had something that worked.

Here’s a list of what I did, in a nutshell:

Dealing with social collision? Find easy ways to handle it.
  • Figured out how to find the closest points between objects.
  • Used that info to calculate a safe distance.
  • Repeated the process a few times to predict collisions.

It was a wild ride, but I learned a lot. And hey, I can now say I can kind of predict the future, at least when it comes to digital objects bumping into each other. And I will never forget it.
