Okay, so I stumbled upon this podcast called “Articles of Interest” by Avery Trufelman. I’d heard the name before, somewhere, maybe on some “best podcasts” list, but never really checked it out. Man, I was missing out.

I started with one episode. The title is a bit weird, but I was just curious. It was about why we wear what we wear. You know, the history of clothes and stuff.
I started listening while I was doing the dishes, and before I knew it, I’d finished the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and was still listening. It’s super engaging! Avery’s got this way of talking that just pulls you in. She’s not just lecturing, it’s like she’s having a conversation with you.
I binged like five episodes in a row. Then I realized, “Hey, this is part of 99% Invisible!” I’d heard of that podcast too, but never realized Avery was connected. Apparently, “Articles of Interest” started as a miniseries within 99% Invisible and then spun off into its own thing. It was like a lightbulb moment.
- First, I was just looking for something to listen to while doing chores.
- Then, I was hooked on Avery’s storytelling.
- Next, I realized she’s part of 99% Invisible, which blew my mind.
- Finally, I ended up going down a rabbit hole of design podcasts.
I learned that Avery’s not just about clothes. She talks about the history and design of everything, even the most mundane things.
After that, I decided to check out some of the other podcasts on 99% Invisible’s network. I’ve been on a real design podcast kick ever since. I realized that it is so cool to learn something new. And Avery Trufelman just opened the door to a whole new world for me. I mean, who knew a podcast about clothes could be so interesting?

Anyway, that’s my Avery Trufelman experience. I’m officially a fan, and I’m telling everyone I know to check out her stuff. It was a wild ride!
So now, if any of you are looking for a new podcast, or just want to learn some random but fascinating stuff, definitely give “Articles of Interest” a listen. You won’t regret it! And that’s pretty much it. I just wanted to share my journey into the world of Avery Trufelman. It’s been a blast!
