Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something called “A Man on the Inside.” I had heard some buzz about it, mostly that it’s a new Netflix show and that Ted Danson, the guy from “The Good Place,” is in it. Sounds interesting, right? So I decided to give it a try.
First thing I did was try to figure out what this show is all about. Apparently, it’s loosely based on some documentary called “The Mole Agent.” Didn’t watch that, but the basic idea seemed to be about a spy or something. This show, though, they say it’s a comedy. So, a spy comedy? Okay, I’m in.
I started watching, and yeah, Ted Danson plays this retired guy named Charles. The show kicks off with him getting involved in some shenanigans. There’s also a lady named Gladys, played by Susan Ruttan, who’s dealing with Alzheimer’s. Charles gets close to her, and there’s this whole mystery about her being a thief or something. It’s kind of a slow burn, but it kept me guessing.
The other characters are pretty interesting too. They got Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, and Stephanie Beatriz. I didn’t know them from before, but they’re all good in their roles. They make this whole retirement community setting feel kind of real, even with all the crazy stuff going on.
What I noticed is
- The whole show’s a mix of funny and serious. It’s like they took a serious topic, getting old and all the problems that come with it, and mixed it with this lighthearted spy thing. It’s a weird combo, but it kind of works.
- Ted Danson is great, as usual. He’s just got this way of being funny without trying too hard. I really liked him in “The Good Place,” and he’s just as good here.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much, but I ended up really liking “A Man on the Inside.” It’s not your typical comedy. It’s got some heart to it, and it makes you think a little, even while you’re laughing. If you’re looking for something a little different to watch, I’d say give it a shot. I watched a few episodes today, and I’m definitely going to finish it up tomorrow. It’s a good one, for sure.
