Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I wanna talk about something a bit different, something I’ve been messing around with lately: surfing. Yeah, you heard that right. I’ve been hitting the waves, trying to learn how to surf, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
So, I heard about this “Anna Levesque” thing, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I’ve always been up for trying new things. A friend told me she joined an immersive week of surfing and learning, sounds interesting, right? So I packed my bags, grabbed my board, and headed out.
Getting Started
First off, finding the right spot was a bit of a mission. I spent a good chunk of time just driving around, checking out different beaches. Finally, I settled on this one spot that had some decent waves for beginners. Not too crazy, but enough to get a feel for it.
- Find a spot: Drove around, checked out different beaches.
- Settle on a beginner-friendly spot: Not too crazy waves.
Then came the gear. I had a basic board, but I realized pretty quickly that I needed a wetsuit. The water was colder than I expected. Let me tell you, wrestling myself into a wetsuit was a workout in itself. My friend loves to do Standup paddleboarding, I think that’s much easier than surfing, but anyway, after some struggling, I finally got it on.
Hitting the Waves
Now, for the actual surfing. I started by just paddling out, getting a feel for the water. That was harder than it looked. The waves kept pushing me back, and my arms were burning after just a few minutes. But I kept at it, paddling further and further out.
- Paddling out: Harder than it looks, waves pushing back.
- Arms burning: Kept paddling further out.
Next up was trying to catch a wave. I watched a few other surfers, trying to copy what they were doing. It took a bunch of tries, and a lot of wiping out, but finally, I caught one. I popped up on the board, and for a few glorious seconds, I was riding the wave. It was such an awesome feeling, like flying on water.
Learning and Improving
Of course, I wasn’t a pro overnight. I fell off, got tossed around, and swallowed a fair amount of seawater. But each time, I learned something new. I started to understand how to read the waves, how to position myself on the board, and how to balance. And I think I can do it better in Costa Rica next time.
- Wiping out: Fell off, got tossed around, swallowed seawater.
- Learning: How to read waves, position on board, balance.
It wasn’t just about the physical stuff, either. I also learned a lot about patience and persistence. Surfing is tough, and it takes time to get good at it. But if you keep at it, keep practicing, you’ll eventually get there. And the feeling of catching that perfect wave makes it all worth it.
Wrapping Up
So, that’s my surfing adventure so far. It’s been a blast, and I’m definitely going to keep at it. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be ripping it up like those pros. But for now, I’m just happy to be out there, enjoying the waves and learning something new.
If any of you guys have tried surfing or are thinking about it, I say go for it. It’s an amazing experience, and you won’t regret it. Just remember to be patient, stay persistent, and have fun. Peace out!
