That Amass Place, What’s It All About?

Amass Restaurant, they used to call it. Fancy name, ain’t it? It was in Copenhagen, that big city over in Denmark. I hear they got farms and water and forests over there, just like we do, but maybe fancier. They used food from those places. Said it was good for the world to eat food from close by.

They had their own garden, too! Right there at the restaurant. Planted all sorts of things, I reckon. Probably tomatoes, and greens, and who knows what else them city folk eat.

Sounded like a lot of work, growin’ all that food. But they said it was important. I guess that’s why the food cost so much. You know, good things ain’t cheap, and cheap things ain’t good. That’s what my old man used to say.

Well, I heard that Amass Restaurant in Copenhagen, they closed down. Said the last few years were hard. Real hard. I reckon it’s hard for everybody these days.

I heard the owner, some fella named Matt Orlando, said it was too much. This place, Amass in Copenhagen, it just couldn’t make it. That’s sad, but it happens.

It’s a tough world out there, especially for them restaurant folks. Everything costs more now. And folks ain’t got as much money to spend on fancy eatin’. They gotta put food on the table at home first, you know?

They had some big menu, 50 things on it or somethin’. Fifty! Can you imagine? I can’t even think of 50 different things to eat. And it cost a lot of money. More money than I make in a month, I bet.

They had wine, too. Lots of it. Some place under the floor three stories. Imagine that! They call it a cellar or somethin’ fancy like that. Must have been a lot of bottles of wine, and the price was from 1500kr to 6000kr. I ain’t never seen so many numbers.

I never ate at Amass, mind you. Too far away. And too much money. But I heard stories. Folks say it was somethin’ special. The food was different. Things you never even thought of eatin’.

They made it all pretty, too. Put it on the plate just so. Not like how I do it. I just plop it on there. But they made it look like a picture. I guess that’s why you pay the big bucks, huh?

Some folks like that fancy stuff. Me, I’m happy with a good bowl of stew. But I can see why people liked that Amass place. It was different. An experience, they call it.

I reckon runnin’ a place like Amass in Copenhagen is hard work. You gotta come up with new things all the time. Keep people interested. And you gotta make sure the food tastes good, too. That’s the most important part, ain’t it? Gotta taste good.

That Matt Orlando Fella

That Matt Orlando, the fella who ran Amass Copenhagen, he must be somethin’. To run a place like that. Gotta be smart. Gotta know about food. Gotta know how to run a business.

I heard he’s sad about closin’ it down. I bet he is. He put a lot of work into that place. It’s like your baby, you know? You raise it up, and you want it to do good. But sometimes, things just don’t work out.

I hope he’s doin’ alright. It’s hard when your dream goes bust. I hope he finds somethin’ else to do. Somethin’ that makes him happy.

Well, that’s all I know about that Amass Restaurant in Copenhagen. It’s gone now, but folks will remember it. They’ll talk about the food, and the garden, and that Matt Orlando fella. They’ll say it was somethin’ special. And maybe it was. Maybe it really was.
