Alright so this month I got totally hooked on recreating those iconic Blackpink stage outfits after binge-watching their Coachella performances. Seriously, those bedazzled crop tops and mini skirts are fire. Figured I’d document my messy-but-fun attempt to DIY some looks on my blog.
The Obsession Begins
First, I scavenged through my closet like a raccoon digging through trash. Found this old black tank top that might work for Jennie’s sparkly number – except it looked like something I wore to paint walls last summer. Next stop: some sketchy fabric store downtown where everything smells faintly of mothballs.
The Hunt for Shiny Stuff
Grabbed:
- Fake rhinestones: Cheap plastic ones that kept spilling everywhere. Swept ’em off my kitchen floor for days.
- Silver fringe: Got tangled around my fan like spaghetti.
- Hot glue gun: Burned my thumb so bad I yelled out Lisa’s rap verse.
Spent an hour debating if I should cut sleeves off Lisa’s style jacket. Finally said “stuff it” and grabbed scissors. Might’ve hacked it too short on one side. Whatever.
Bedazzling Disaster Hour
Started sticking glittery bits onto the tank top. Hot glue blobs everywhere – tried scraping it off with a butter knife. Some stones fell off before I even finished. Ran out halfway through one sleeve and had to use mismatching blue ones. Classic.
The fringe situation? Tried sewing it onto the jacket hem while watching YouTube tutorials. My stitches looked like a drunk caterpillar crawled across the fabric. Noticed later I’d sewn part of the fringe to my sweatpants. Rip.
The Grand Reveal
Threw the hacked-up jacket over the wonky bedazzled top. Added black leggings and stomped around in old combat boots. Tried Rosé’s hair flip pose… nearly tripped over my dog.
Overall vibe?
Less Blackpink, more Dollar-Store punk vibes. But the fringe DID catch sunlight nicely when I moved, and those plastic gems reflected my ceiling lamp. Called it success. Ended up wearing this masterpiece to grab milk – cashier side-eyed me hard. Worth it.
Final tip: Maybe just buy K-pop merch online.
