Okay, so I saw this trend on TikTok about “men friendship tattoos,” and I thought, “Why not?” My best buddy, Mark, and I have been through thick and thin since kindergarten. We’ve talked about getting matching tattoos for years, but never actually did it. This seemed like the perfect excuse.

First, we brainstormed. And let me tell you, it was a mess. We went from super cheesy (like half a pizza each) to overly complicated designs we found online. Nothing felt quite us. We spent, like, two weeks just sending each other ridiculous pictures and memes. Total chaos.
Then, we finally decided to keep it simple. We both love camping and have this one inside joke about a particularly disastrous trip involving a bear and a bag of marshmallows (long story). So, we settled on a minimalist design: two simple mountain peaks. It’s subtle, personal, and not something we’d regret in ten years.
Next up, finding an artist. We didn’t want some random dude in a shady parlor. We checked out a few local shops, looked at their portfolios online, and read a ton of reviews. We finally found this one artist, Sarah, who specializes in fine-line work, which was exactly what we wanted for the minimalist design.
We booked a consultation with Sarah. We showed her our (very rough) sketch and explained the story behind it. She helped us refine the design a bit, making it cleaner and more symmetrical. She also gave us advice on placement and size. We decided to get them on our forearms, about two inches tall.
The day of the actual tattooing, we were both a little nervous. I mean, it’s permanent, right? But Sarah was super chill and put us at ease. The process itself wasn’t too bad. It felt like a bunch of tiny scratches, more annoying than painful. It took about an hour for both of us.

The Result?
We absolutely love them! They’re exactly what we wanted: a subtle, meaningful reminder of our friendship and all the stupid adventures we’ve had. It’s not some flashy, in-your-face design, but something personal and special. Every time I look at it, I think of Mark and that damn bear. Good times.
So, yeah, that’s my “men friendship tattoos” experience. If you’re thinking about doing it with your buddy, just go for it! But maybe skip the pizza idea.
