So, I’d been hearing a lot about Everlane for a while, you know, their basics and all that. Decided I needed a new, simple t-shirt, nothing fancy, and figured I’d give them a shot. I went online, browsed around, and found one that looked pretty good. Placed the order, and that part was easy enough.

A few days later, the package arrived. I was pretty keen to try it on. The material felt nice, seemed like good quality, but when I put it on, the fit just wasn’t right for me. A bit too snug in some places, a bit too loose in others. It’s always a gamble buying clothes online without trying them on first, right? So, I knew pretty quickly I wasn’t going to wear it much, if at all.
Figuring Out the Return
Alright, so next step was figuring out how to send it back. I went back to their website. Usually, you find the “Returns” or “Help” section tucked away at the bottom of the page. Found it, clicked through, and started reading their policy. This is the bit I always pay close attention to with any online store.
I specifically looked for a few things:
- The return window: How many days did I have from when I received it? I think it was something like 30 days, which is pretty standard.
- Condition of the item: It had to be unworn, unwashed, with tags still on. Makes sense. I’d only tried it on briefly, so that was fine.
- How to start the return: They had an online portal. I had to log in with my order number and email, I think.
- Return shipping cost: This was a big one. I checked if they provided a prepaid label and if there was a fee for using it. Sometimes they deduct it from your refund.
Going Through the Motions
Once I’d read up, I started the actual return process online. It was fairly straightforward. I selected the t-shirt from my order, chose a reason for the return – “didn’t fit right” or something similar. Then, the system generated a return shipping label for me. I printed that out.
Next, I had to pack the t-shirt back up. I still had the original mailer bag it came in, so I just carefully folded the t-shirt, put it back inside, and sealed it up. Stuck the return label on top, making sure it covered any old shipping labels.

Then it was off to the post office to drop the package. They scanned it, gave me a receipt with a tracking number, and that was that for my part.
The Waiting Game and Outcome
After I shipped it, it was just a matter of waiting. I did check the tracking number a couple of times to see where it was. A few days later, I got an email from Everlane saying they’d received my return. That was good news.
Then, maybe another few days after that, I got a second email confirming they’d processed my refund. I made sure to check my credit card statement online a little while later, and yup, the money was back in my account, minus a small shipping fee for the return label, which they had mentioned in their policy, so no surprises there.
Overall, the process was pretty clear. I found what I needed on their site, the online portal worked, and I got my refund. It wasn’t instant, but these things rarely are. The key for me was just reading their policy carefully beforehand so I knew what to expect. That usually saves a lot of headaches later on. So yeah, that was my little adventure with an Everlane return. Always good to know how these things work before you really need them to!
