My Process When I Hear “Donatella Versace New Face”
Alright, so the phrase “Donatella Versace new face” popped up again. It’s like a recurring theme, isn’t it? Every so often, new pictures surface, and the internet just goes wild. My feed was buzzing with it the other day.
First thing I usually do, and I did it this time too, is I actually look. I don’t just glance and jump on the bandwagon of whatever everyone’s saying. I try to find a few different photos, maybe some older ones for comparison. Not in a nasty way, more like I’m trying to genuinely see what people are talking about. It’s almost like a spot-the-difference game, but with, you know, a real person. I’ll spend a bit of time just observing.
Then I Start Thinking About the Whole Thing
And that’s when my brain really kicks in. I start wondering about the ‘why’ of it all. Here’s this incredibly powerful woman, a fashion icon. What’s the drive? Is it the crazy pressure of that industry? Is it a personal choice, something that makes her feel good? I’m not judging, I genuinely try to understand. It’s easy to sit back and make comments, but I imagine the scrutiny they’re under is something else. We all have our own mirrors, but theirs is the whole world, right?
It Actually Reminds Me of a Time…
This whole discussion about changing appearances, it brought back a memory for me. Years ago, and I mean years ago, I was really hung up on my profile. Thought my chin was a bit weak, or something equally silly. It consumed me for a while. I remember looking at actors and models, thinking if I could just tweak this one thing, I’d feel so much better. I even bought one of those ridiculous jawline exerciser things. Total waste of money, just made my jaw sore for a day.
I’d spend so much energy on it. Looking back, it’s kinda funny, but also a bit sad how much headspace it took up. It was only when I got super busy with a new project at work, something really demanding that needed all my focus, that I sort of forgot about my chin. And then, after that project was done and I got some good feedback, I realized my confidence wasn’t really tied to how my chin looked. It was about what I could do.
So, Back to Donatella…
When I see all the articles and comments about Donatella, I kinda get that internal struggle, even if it’s on a massively different scale. We all want to feel good, to feel confident. Maybe for her, in her world, this is part of her way of navigating it, of feeling in control or expressing herself. It’s her life, her face.
My “practice,” if you can call it that, is just to observe these things, think a bit beyond the surface-level chatter, and try to connect it to broader human experiences. It’s easy to be dismissive. It’s harder to try and understand, or at least acknowledge the complexity. And sometimes, thinking about stuff like this makes me reflect on my own journey, my own past insecurities and how I moved past them. That’s the real stuff, I reckon.
