Okay, so I got it into my head today that I wanted to do a deep dive into Dolly Parton’s 1980s style. I’ve always loved her over-the-top look, and the 80s were such a fun time for fashion and makeup, so I figured, why not?

Getting Started

First, I spent some time just browsing online.I looked through a ton of photos of Dolly from that era – album covers, movie stills, concert shots, you name it.I really wanted to get a feel for the overall vibe, not just copy one specific outfit.

Breaking it Down

Once I had a good sense of her style, I started to break it down into key elements:

  • The Hair: Big, blonde, and teased to high heaven! That was definitely the foundation.
  • The Makeup: Bright colors, heavy eyeliner, and lots of blush. Think bold and dramatic.
  • The Clothes: Sequins, rhinestones, fringe, and figure-hugging silhouettes. Basically, anything that sparkled and showed off her curves.
  • The Accessories: Big earrings, chunky necklaces, and lots of bracelets. More was definitely more!

My Experiment

After my research,I gathered all my stuff.I don’t own a lot of super flashy clothes, but I do have some sparkly stuff that I thought could * I definitely have a lot of makeup.

I started with the hair. I don’t have a blonde wig, so I just worked with my own hair, teasing it as much as I could. I added some hairspray to try to get it to stay up, but it was definitely a challenge.

Then I moved on to the makeup.I did a heavy smoky eye with lots of black eyeliner and some bright blue eyeshadow. I added some false eyelashes, which I’m not very good at applying, but I did my best. Then I put on a ton of blush – way more than I usually wear – and a bright pink lipstick.

For the clothes, I found a sparkly top and some tight jeans. I added a belt with a big buckle and some dangly * didn’t look exactly like Dolly,I tried my best to capture the spirit of her 80s style.

It was a lot of fun. It’s definitely not a look I’d wear every day, but it was fun to step outside my comfort zone and try something different.
