Okay, so I got this idea to make a list of the top models from the 80s. You know, the real supermodel era! I figured it’d be a fun trip down memory lane, and maybe I’d even learn something new.

Getting Started: The Research Phase
First things first, I needed to, like, actually remember who the big models were back then. My memory’s a bit fuzzy, so I started by Googling “top 80s models.” This brought up a bunch of articles and lists, which was a good starting point.
I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through these articles, jotting down names that kept popping up: Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Elle Macpherson… the list went on and on!
Digging Deeper: Finding the Iconic Images
Then, reading wasn’t enough. I needed to see these models in their prime. I started searching for specific images, like “Cindy Crawford Pepsi ad” or “Naomi Campbell runway.” This is where things got really interesting.
Seeing those iconic photos and magazine covers really took me back. The fashion, the hair, the makeup… it was all so distinctively 80s. I also started noticing models I hadn’t initially thought of, like Iman and Paulina Porizkova. Their images were just stunning.
Compiling My List and Making it Personal
After hours of browsing and saving images, I started compiling my own list, there are lots of famouse supermodels. The below are some of my favorite.

- Cindy Crawford: The mole, the Pepsi ad… she was everywhere!
- Naomi Campbell: That walk! She was (and still is) a total force.
- Linda Evangelista: She famously said she wouldn’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day. Iconic.
- Christy Turlington: She seemed so elegant and sophisticated.
- Elle Macpherson: “The Body”! ’nuff said.
- Iman: Just pure beauty and grace.
- Paulina Porizkova: That Sports Illustrated cover!
It made me remember how much these women influenced fashion and pop culture back then. It also got me thinking about how much the modeling industry has changed since then.
I have to be honest though the whole thing took longer than I thought it would. Finding all those old images and researching their careers it is time consuming.
