Okay, so I got this crazy idea the other day to try and put together a ’70s-inspired outfit. I’ve always loved the bold colors and patterns of that era, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I hit up some local thrift stores. This was key, because you’re not going to find authentic ’70s stuff at the mall. I spent a good few hours just digging through racks and racks of clothes, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.
- Found some amazing bell-bottom jeans, but they were way too small.
- Saw a couple of funky patterned shirts, but they had some serious stains.
- Almost gave up hope, then…BAM!
I stumbled upon this amazing pair of high-waisted, wide-leg corduroy pants in a perfect mustard yellow. Score!
Next, I needed a top. After more searching, I found a vintage polyester shirt with a crazy geometric print. It was a little loud, even for me, but I figured, go big or go home, right?
Putting It All Together
Once the cloth was ready,I tried the pants and shirt on together, and honestly, it was a bit much at first. The colors and patterns were definitely clashing, but in a kind of cool, retro way.

To finish it off, I added a wide brown leather belt with a big, chunky buckle.
The final piece of my experiment is that I actually wore the outfit out to a party! I got a lot of compliments, and a few confused looks, but hey, that’s part of the *’s definetly a success experience!
