It wasn’t like they laid it all out clear as day. Everything was shrouded in this deliberate mystery, which, I suppose, was part of the appeal for some.

But the main thing I took away from my whole Yeezy Season 5 saga wasn’t a new outfit. It was a pretty stark lesson in how hype culture works, how branding can create insane demand, and how the fashion game, especially at that end of the market, is played. It’s a machine, a very effective one.
