Okay, so I finally got around to looking at the Soshiotsuki SS25 stuff. Heard some chatter, you know, the usual fashion week buzz online, so I figured I’d see what was up.
Pulled up the images first. Didn’t bother with any fancy reviews or articles yet, just wanted to see the clothes for myself. Spent a good while just scrolling, clicking through the looks one by one. Zoomed in on some details, tried to get a feel for the fabrics, the cuts. You know how it is, trying to see past the styling and just look at the actual pieces.
First thing that hit me? It felt… familiar, but also kinda different this time. Soshiotsuki always has that vintage vibe, right? Like old photos brought to life. This collection definitely had that, but something felt a bit lighter, maybe? Less heavy than some past seasons I remember looking at.
What I Noticed
I paid attention to the tailoring, ’cause that’s usually where Soshiotsuki shines for me. Lots of jackets, trousers. Some looked really sharp, classic shapes. But then there were these other pieces mixed in… looser stuff, things that looked almost like they were falling apart, but on purpose. You know, deliberate deconstruction.
Key things I kept seeing:
- Lots of layering, but it didn’t look stuffy. Maybe thinner materials?
- Interesting textures. Some rough-looking fabrics next to smoother ones.
- The colors were pretty muted overall. Beiges, greys, black, some washed-out blues. Nothing too loud.
Spent some time just staring at one particular jacket. It had this weird shoulder thing going on. Couldn’t quite figure it out from the picture, if it was comfortable or just for show. That’s the thing with looking online, you never really know until you see it move or touch it.
Honestly, after going through all the looks, I just sat back for a minute. It’s definitely Soshiotsuki. You can tell the designer’s hand is still there. That whole thing of referencing old Japanese styles, mixing it with workwear vibes. It’s all present and correct.
But yeah, it also felt a bit… less strict this time? Maybe more relaxed. Some pieces looked genuinely wearable, stuff you could maybe actually put on without looking like you stepped out of a museum. Others? Still very much ‘fashion show’ pieces. Made me wonder who actually buys and wears that stuff day-to-day. Probably not me, getting coffee down the street.
So, yeah. That was my look through Soshiotsuki SS25. Clicked through the photos, zoomed in a bunch, thought about the shapes and fabrics. It’s interesting stuff, for sure. Made me think. But like always, seeing it online is one thing, real life is probably another story entirely.
