Alright, so I got this idea to make a Jojo Siwa ball. Not sure why, just popped into my head one day. Figured it might be fun, maybe something bright for the shelf.
Getting Started – The Hunt for Supplies
First thing, had to get the stuff. You can’t just wish a Jojo ball into existence, right? So, off I went.
- Needed a ball, obviously. Found a decent-sized plain styrofoam one. Thought about plastic, but figured glue would stick better to foam.
- Paint. Pink, of course. Maybe some turquoise or yellow too. Gotta have that Jojo sparkle.
- Glitter. Lots of it. Pink, silver, maybe iridescent? Grabbed a few different kinds. You always need more glitter than you think.
- Bows! Can’t have Jojo without bows. Looked for those giant ones, but they were ridiculously expensive for just one. Decided I’d try making some smaller ones myself out of ribbon.
- Glue. Good old craft glue. Maybe a hot glue gun for the bows later.
Finding the right pink paint was a whole thing, though. Took me ages. Stood in the craft aisle staring at fifty shades of pink. Felt a bit daft, honestly. Reminded me of trying to pick out a specific shade of grey for a wall once – ended up buying three testers and they all looked the same once they were on the wall. Anyway, finally picked one that looked bright enough.
Putting It All Together – The Messy Part
Got home, spread out some newspaper. Always start with newspaper. Learned that the hard way years ago.
Painted the ball pink first. Let that dry. Took longer than I expected. Had to give it a second coat because the white foam was showing through. Patience isn’t my strong suit, but you gotta wait for paint to dry.
Then came the glitter. Oh boy, the glitter. Tried to do sections. Put glue on one part, sprinkle glitter. Turn it, glue, sprinkle. Sounds easy. It wasn’t. Glitter got everywhere. On my hands, the table, pretty sure some ended up in my tea. It just floats, you know?
The iridescent glitter looked better than the plain silver, so I used more of that. Made a bit of a pattern, alternating with the pink glitter. It wasn’t perfect, some bits are thicker than others. Kinda patchy if you look close.
Tried making the bows while the glitter glue was drying. Used some wide, sparkly ribbon. Fiddly things, bows. Mine didn’t look quite as neat as the ones in the shops. More… rustic? Yeah, let’s call it rustic.
Finishing Touches and Thoughts
Heated up the glue gun. Carefully stuck the bows on. Tried to space them out evenly. Added a few self-adhesive rhinestones I found at the bottom of my craft box for extra bling. Why not, eh?
So now I’ve got this very pink, very glittery Jojo Siwa ball thing sitting on the newspaper. It’s definitely bright. It definitely screams Jojo Siwa. It’s also definitely shedding glitter every time I touch it.
Was it a complex project? Nah, not really. Just paint, glue, and a whole lot of glitter. But getting the bits right, dealing with the mess, the slightly wonky bows… it’s always more involved than you think it’ll be. Looks okay from a distance, though. Pretty sparkly. Just need to find somewhere to put it where the glitter fallout won’t be too annoying.
