So, I saw this jacket from the ami paris 2023 stuff. You know the one, probably. Looked really good, simple, exactly my kind of thing. Thought, okay, I’ll treat myself.
First, I jumped online right when they said it would drop. Had the page open, refreshed like crazy. Bam! Site just crawled, then kinda froze. By the time it loaded properly, the jacket in my size? Gone. Like, vaporized. Ten minutes, tops. Felt like a joke.
Alright, plan B. Tried calling their customer service line. Found the number, dialed, and then… music. Lots of it. On hold for what felt like forever, maybe thirty minutes? Finally got someone, asked if they knew about restocks or store availability. Super vague answers. Basically got a ‘check the website’ response. Thanks, real helpful.
Okay, not giving up yet. Decided to try my luck in the actual store downtown. Took the train, walked over. Should’ve known better. There was already a line outside. Waited again, maybe another twenty minutes just to get in. Got inside, found the section. And guess what? Of course, no jacket. Asked a staff member, they just gave me that look, you know? The ‘you’re dreaming’ look. Said it sold out first thing in the morning.
What Was That All About?
Honestly, the whole thing just left me feeling tired. All that effort, refreshing pages, waiting on hold, traveling downtown, standing in lines… for a jacket. It wasn’t even about the jacket by the end, really. It was the runaround.
Made me think, though. It’s crazy how much energy we put into chasing these things sometimes. Back in the day, you wanted something, you went to a shop, you looked, maybe they had it, maybe they didn’t. It felt simpler. Now it’s all this online rush, the hype, the feeling you’re missing out if you don’t fight for it the second it appears.
Ended up just going home, made myself a coffee. Didn’t even feel like looking for alternatives online. The whole experience just sort of popped the bubble. Maybe I didn’t need that specific jacket that badly after all. Just needed a reminder of how silly the chase can get sometimes.
