What Are Different Fashion Styles? Easy Guide for Beginners.

So, I’ve been thinking a lot about clothes lately, and not just what I like to wear, but like, the whole idea of different fashion styles. It’s a wild world out there, you know? It all started because I wanted to figure out my own style, but then I fell down this rabbit hole of all these different looks and trends.

First, I started by just looking around me. People-watching is great for this, by the way. I noticed how some folks dressed super casually, others were always dressed up, and some were just a total mix of everything. It was like a lightbulb moment – there’s no one right way to dress!

Then, I hit up Pinterest. Oh boy, Pinterest. It’s like a giant mood board for everything, and fashion is no exception. I made my own board and just started pinning outfits that caught my eye. I didn’t worry too much about whether they “matched” my current style, I just pinned whatever I thought looked cool.

  • Browsed through tons of fashion blogs.
  • Flipped through some old fashion magazines I found lying around.
  • Even scrolled through social media, checking out what different influencers were wearing.

After a while, I started to see some patterns. I was drawn to certain colors, certain types of clothes. There was a lot of stuff from, like, the early 2000s. Apparently, that’s called “Y2K” now. Who knew? Think low-rise jeans, which I’m still on the fence about, and those little butterfly clips that were everywhere back in the day.

Then there’s this whole “rule of thirds” thing in fashion. It’s basically about dividing your outfit into three parts visually to make it look more balanced. I tried playing around with that, and honestly, it does make a difference! I used to just throw on whatever, but now I actually think about how different pieces work together.

It’s been a fun little journey, figuring all this out. I still don’t have it all figured out yet, but I feel like I’m getting closer to understanding what my own personal style is. I’m not all about Y2K, and I don’t always follow the rule of thirds, but I’ve got a better sense of what I like and what works for me. And that’s really what it’s all about, right?
