How I Discovered This Anxiety Costumes Stuff
First time hearing about anxiety costumes was from my cousin’s kid last Halloween. They showed up dressed like a walking panic attack with scribbled worries all over their hoodie. I was confused – thought it was just some messy DIY costume. But then I kept spotting more people doing similar things during Halloween parties and on streets near my place.
My Weird Experiment Begins
Decided to make my own version last month. Grabbed an old oversized hoodie from my closet. Started writing random anxious thoughts that pop into my head with permanent marker:

- Scribbled a giant question mark for constant uncertainty
Added tangled earphone wires around the neck area like choking thoughts. Pinned crumpled to-do lists everywhere. Finished it off with mismatched socks – one inside out, one hanging loose – to represent feeling unbalanced. Total cost? Zero bucks.
Testing It Out In Public
Wore it grocery shopping last Tuesday afternoon. Got some serious stares near the produce section. Old lady actually approached me asking about the “messy art project.” Explained how these costumes make invisible mental struggles visible. She nodded slowly like “ah, that explains why you look like a walking journal.”
What These Costumes Actually Do
Through my awkward experiment, I realized:

- Turns heavy feelings into something almost… playful?
- Lets anxious people own their experiences instead of masking them
