Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to share my experience with these Veja running shoes I’ve been trying out. I saw a lot of people talking about them, and, you know, being a bit of a sneakerhead myself, I got curious.

First off, let’s talk about getting the right size. I spent some time reading up on how they fit. Most folks online were saying they fit true to size. There was also a suggestion about going one size up than your usual shoe size when getting a Veja, so I kept that in mind. I wear a size 10 normally, but I ended up ordering a size 11.
When the shoes arrived, I eagerly tried them on. They felt a bit snug at first, not uncomfortable, but definitely noticeable. I remembered someone mentioning to lace all but the top holes and bend the tongue a bit. So, I did just that. I also put on some thicker, comfy socks, thinking that might help stretch them out a little.
I decided to break them in around the house for a couple of days. I wore them while doing chores, walking around, just getting a feel for them. I have to admit, they did start to feel more comfortable after a while.
- Day 1: Wore them for about 3 hours. Felt snug, but not painful.
- Day 2: Upped it to 5 hours. Definitely loosening up. The tongue bending trick seemed to work.
- Day 3: Took them for a short run outside. No blisters, no major discomfort.
Now, after a week or so, these Vejas are actually pretty darn comfy. They’ve become my go-to for quick errands and casual outings.
My Final Take
If you’re thinking about getting a pair, I’d say definitely consider the sizing tips. Going one size up seems to be a good idea. Oh, and don’t get discouraged if they feel a bit tight at first. Just wear them around the house with some thick socks, and you’ll break them in no time. They’re made with some recycled stuff and organic cotton, which is pretty cool. Overall, I’m happy with my Veja running shoes. They look good, they feel good after the initial break-in period, and it’s a plus that they’re a more sustainable option.
