Transparent Clothing Inspo: See How Celebrities Rock It

Okay, so I saw this “transparent clothing” trend going around and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’m no Photoshop expert, but I figured I could probably fumble my way through it.

Getting Started

First, I picked a photo. I went with one of me in a simple cotton t-shirt – seemed like it would be easier to work with than, say, a patterned dress. Then, I opened up the photo in my trusty photo editing app. I’m not gonna shill for any specific software, use what you like, but make sure it support mask layer.

The Messy Part

This is where things got… interesting. I created a new layer, it’s important.I started tracing around the edges of the shirt. Then I created a mask layer. Slowly, very slowly, I used the brush tool with the mask layer to start “erasing” parts of the shirt. I quickly realized this was going to take a while. It wasn’t exactly a clean process, let’s just say that. There was a lot of zooming in, undoing, and redoing. My hand started to cramp up after a while.

The “Aha!” Moment

After a good chunk of time (and a few frustrated sighs), I finally had the basic transparency effect down. It wasn’t perfect, far from it, but you could definitely see the effect I was going for. I played around with the opacity settings to make it look a bit more… realistic? Is that the word? I’m not sure “realistic” is what anyone’s aiming for with this trend, but you know what I mean. It added a bit to make it seem more blended and subtle, but not entirely invisible.

Final Touches (and Frustrations)

I spent some more time refining the edges, trying to make them look less jagged. This was the most tedious part, honestly. I think I went cross-eyed at one point. But eventually, I got it to a place where I was… somewhat satisfied. It wasn’t going to win any awards, but it was recognizable as transparent clothing.

I added a simple background.And that’s it,I finished the transparent clothing effect.

The Verdict

Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely a learning experience. It’s not as easy as those super-smooth tutorials make it look, but it’s also not impossibly difficult. Just be prepared to invest some time and patience. And maybe have some hand lotion nearby for those cramps.
