Okay, so I’ve been seeing this artist, Sohee Park, pop up all over my feeds lately. Her work is super unique – really vibrant and kind of futuristic-looking. I was curious, so I decided to do a deep dive and figure out how to create something inspired by her style.

First, I gathered a ton of her artwork. I just went to google, and did some image searches, saving anything that really caught my eye. I wanted a good mix of her different pieces to get a feel for her overall aesthetic.

Getting Started

Next, I opened up my favorite digital painting * this experiment, I mainly stuck to these brushes:

  • Basic round brush: For blocking in shapes and laying down the foundation.
  • Textured brush: For creating patterns, to add some visual interest to the flat colors.
  • Airbrush: For smooth gradients and soft transitions.

Experiment and detail process

I started with a really rough sketch. I wasn’t aiming for anything perfect, just trying to get the basic shapes and composition down. Sohee’s work often features these flowing, organic forms, so I tried to capture that in my sketch.

Then I created the basic shape, I started blocking in the colors. Sohee’s palette is often bright and bold, with lots of contrasting colors, and gradients.I picked a few colors that felt like they fit her style and just started filling in the shapes.I also added some gradients to give the shapes a more three-dimensional feel.

After all process,I added a little more detail – some highlights, shadows, and a few extra lines to define the shapes better.

It’s not exactly like Sohee Park’s work, but I think I captured some of the essence of her style.

It was a fun experiment! I definitely learned a few things about color and shape just by playing around. It gave me some cool ideas for future pieces, too. Might try incorporating some of these techniques into my own style.
