Alright, let me tell you about my little Givenchy Blue adventure. I’ve been wanting to try this color out for ages, and finally got around to giving it a shot. So, here’s how it all went down.

First things first, I grabbed all my supplies. I had this old denim jacket sitting around that I wanted to experiment on. Then, I found a bottle of fabric dye that was a pretty close match to the Givenchy Blue I was aiming for. I also dug out some rubber gloves (essential!), a big plastic bucket, and a wooden spoon for stirring. Safety first, people!
Next up was prepping the jacket. I threw it in the washing machine to get rid of any dirt or grime. You want a clean canvas, you know? Once it was washed and dried, I read the instructions on the dye bottle like five times to make sure I wasn’t gonna mess anything up. Seriously, read the instructions. They’re there for a reason.
Then came the fun part – mixing the dye! I poured the dye into the bucket and added the recommended amount of hot water. The water has to be hot. It’s crucial for the dye to bind correctly. I stirred it all up with the wooden spoon until it was evenly mixed. It looked kinda scary at this point, but I trusted the process.
Here we go: I carefully submerged the denim jacket into the dye bath. I made sure it was completely covered, because splotchy dye jobs aren’t a good look. Then, I used the wooden spoon to push it down and make sure the dye penetrated every inch of the fabric. This part takes patience, folks.
Now, the waiting game. I left the jacket in the dye bath for the amount of time specified on the dye bottle (again, read those instructions!). I stirred it every now and then to make sure the dye was evenly distributed. It felt like forever, but I kept myself busy with a good book.

Finally, time was up! I carefully pulled the jacket out of the dye bath, trying not to make a huge mess. The color was looking pretty promising at this point. I rinsed the jacket under cold water until the water ran clear. This step is super important to get rid of any excess dye.
After that, I threw the jacket back in the washing machine for another rinse cycle. This helps to set the dye and prevent it from bleeding onto other clothes later on. I also added a little bit of vinegar to the wash, which is supposed to help with color retention. Old wives’ tale or not, it can’t hurt!
Last but not least, I hung the jacket up to dry. And there it was – a denim jacket in a beautiful shade of (almost) Givenchy Blue! It wasn’t a perfect match, but I was pretty darn happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little experiment, and now I have a unique piece of clothing that I can rock with pride.
Lessons learned? Read the instructions, wear gloves, and don’t be afraid to experiment! You might just surprise yourself with what you can create.
