Okay, so the other day I got this idea stuck in my head – I wanted to see some really old pictures of Dolly Parton. You know, before she became the huge icon she is now. I figured it’d be interesting to see her journey through photos.
So, first thing I did was pretty simple. I just went online, opened up my browser, and typed in things like “old Dolly Parton photos” or “young Dolly Parton”. You get a lot of results right away, mostly the famous ones, like album covers from the 70s or pictures of her with big hair.
But I was looking for something more, maybe stuff from even earlier, like when she was just starting out or even as a kid. So I had to dig a bit deeper. I started changing my search terms. I tried adding years, like “Dolly Parton 1960s” or “Dolly Parton Porter Wagoner Show” because I remember she was on that show way back.
Finding the Gems
This started bringing up some different stuff. I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through image search results. It’s kind of a rabbit hole, you know? You click on one picture, and it leads you to a page with more.
I found myself looking at different websites too. Some were like fan pages, others seemed like archives for old TV shows or country music history. It took a bit of sifting because sometimes pictures weren’t labeled right, or the quality was really poor, like a photo of a photo.

It was pretty cool finding some black and white photos where she looks so young, almost unrecognizable if it wasn’t for that sparkle she always seemed to have. I saw pictures of her with Porter Wagoner, some where she had different hairstyles than the big blonde ones we know so well.
Found a few that looked like they were from high school maybe? It’s always fascinating to see stars before they were stars. Makes them seem more real, you know?

So yeah, I spent maybe an hour or two just clicking around, saving images, and looking at the different phases of her early life and career. Didn’t find one specific ‘holy grail’ photo, but it was more about the process of looking and seeing the collection build up.
