Okay, so I saw this picture of Sabrina Carpenter in this amazing blue dress, and I just had to try and recreate the look. I’m no fashion designer, but I love a good DIY challenge!

The Hunt Begins
First things first, I scoured my closet. I mean, who knows, maybe I had a forgotten blue dress miracle hiding in the back? No such luck. All I found were old band t-shirts and that one sequined top I wore to a New Year’s Eve party… once.
So, plan B: hit the thrift stores! I love thrifting anyway, it’s like a treasure hunt. I went to three different stores, digging through racks and racks of clothes. I was starting to lose hope when… BAM! There it was. A simple, light blue dress. Not exactly the same, but close enough!
- It was a bit too long.
- The neckline wasn’t quite right.
- And there is no shining effect.
But I figure, I could make it better with little changes.
Operation: Dress Transformation
Time to get crafty. I grabbed my sewing kit (which is basically just a needle, some thread, and a lot of hope) and got to work. First, I hemmed the dress. It took a few tries, and it’s definitely not perfect, but hey, it’s shorter now! I used some scissors. I didn’t have anything else.
Next, I tried to adjust the neckline. This was the trickiest part. I watched a few YouTube tutorials, but honestly, I mostly just winged it. I carefully snipped and sewed, and… well, it’s not exactly like Sabrina’s, but it’s definitely more open and flattering than it was before.

Although I tried to find some shining clooth to add, I failed. So, I just keep the oringinal one.
The Final Result
Okay, so my version isn’t a perfect replica. It’s a little… rough around the edges. But you know what? I’m pretty proud of it! I took an ordinary thrift store dress and turned it into something I actually want to wear. And that’s the whole point, right? Having fun and making something you love. The whole process was fun,I recorded the transformation and my friends love it. I even posted it on my Tiktok!
It is not the same, it is not professional, but It is My creation!
