Alright, so you know I had to dive into this Rick Owens Fashion Week Paris thing, right? Been seeing the looks all over my feed, and I was like, “Okay, time to actually do something inspired by this.” Not just stare at the runway and nod.
First things first, I spent a solid afternoon just scrolling through images and videos from the show. Like, really looking. Trying to figure out what the core vibe was. To me, it felt like a mix of dystopian chic, raw edges, and a whole lotta layering. Plus, the color palette was pretty tight: mostly blacks, grays, and some pops of muted earth tones.
Next, I raided my own closet. I’m talking everything. Pulled out all the black clothes, the oversized stuff, the things with rips and tears. Basically anything that looked even remotely “off.” Found a bunch of stuff I hadn’t worn in ages, which was a bonus.
Okay, the fun part: styling. I started with a long, black t-shirt dress. Then I threw on a ripped-up gray sweater vest over it. Immediately felt more “Rick.” After that I grabbed these old pair of combat boots that were really beat up and scuffed. Perfect!
Layering was key, I noticed from the runway pics. So I found a thin, black trench coat and wrapped it around my waist like a skirt, tying the sleeves in the front. It added some volume and asymmetry, which is what I was going for.
Accessorized with a chunky silver chain I’d had for ages, but hadn’t found a way to style, and a pair of sunglasses. BAM!
Took some pics (of course), tweaked the outfit a little bit (rolled up the sleeves, messed with the “skirt” knot), and honestly? I was feeling it. Definitely not a direct copy of any specific look, but more of an inspired take on the whole vibe.
The biggest takeaway? Don’t be afraid to experiment. Just start pulling stuff out and see what happens. Rip some holes, tie things in weird places, layer like crazy. That’s how you get to that “effortlessly cool” Rick Owens kind of look. Or at least, that’s what I’m telling myself!
