Alright, so I was doing a massive clear-out the other weekend. You know how it goes, pulling stuff out of the back of the closet you haven’t seen in years. Found this old storage bin tucked way back.

Dragged it out, dusted it off. Had no idea what was even in it. Popped the lid and boom, it was like a time capsule straight from around 2013. Seriously.
Digging In
Pulled out a few things. There were these super bright-colored skinny jeans. Like, neon green. Man, I thought I was so cool in those. Then there was this top, what do you call it? Peplum? Yeah, one of those shirts with the weird ruffle around the waist. Had a couple of those, apparently.
And the jewelry! Found a huge statement necklace. Thing must weigh a pound. Remember when those were everywhere? Big chunky plastic jewels. Wore it with everything.
- Neon skinny jeans
- Peplum tops (multiple!)
- That massive necklace
- Some weird graphic tee with an owl wearing glasses? Don’t ask.
The Try-On Session
Okay, so just for laughs, I actually tried some of it on. The jeans? Barely got them past my knees. Seriously, how did we wear pants that tight? It felt super weird. The peplum top just looked… odd. Like, why the extra fabric flap? It didn’t make much sense looking at it now.
Put the necklace on over the t-shirt I was wearing. Felt kinda ridiculous, honestly. Heavy and just… too much.

Looking Back
It’s funny, right? Back in 2013, I probably put those outfits together thinking I looked amazing. Spent actual money on that stuff. Now? It just looks dated. Not even vintage cool yet, just kinda awkward.
Shows how fast things change, I guess. What feels totally normal and stylish one minute looks completely alien a few years later. Makes you wonder what stuff we’re wearing now will look like in 2033.
Anyway, packed most of it back into the bin. Maybe keep one piece for a laugh or a costume party someday. But yeah, that was my little trip back to 2013 fashion. Quite the experience, digging through that stuff.
