Pharrell Williams Movies: His Best On-Screen Performances

Alright, let’s talk about this fella, Pharrell Williams. You know, the “Happy” guy? Yeah, him. He’s been in a whole bunch of movies, or at least his music has. I ain’t no movie expert, mind you, but I hear things.

First time I reckon I heard him was with that “Frontin’” song. That was way back, maybe two thousand and three? Sounded real different, you know? Not like the stuff they played on the radio all the time. That’s what got him started, I guess. Made him a big deal. He and that Chad Hugo fella, they called themselves The Neptunes. Made all sorts of music for other folks.

Then there’s this “Despicable Me” movie, came out in two thousand and ten. My grandkids love them little yellow fellers, the Minions or somethin’. Pharrell, he did some music for that one. Catchy tunes, makes you wanna tap your feet. Then, in two thousand and thirteen, “Despicable Me 2” came out, and that’s when “Happy” hit big. Lord, you couldn’t go nowhere without hearing that song! Grocery store, doctor’s office, even at church bingo, that song was playing. It was on the radio all the blessed day.

  • “Frontin’”(2003): That’s the one that got him going, real smooth like.
  • “Despicable Me”(2010): Minions and music, a good combo for the young’uns.
  • “Despicable Me 2″(2013): And then came “Happy.” Oh, that “Happy” song!

Now, I ain’t seen all these movies, but my daughter tells me he’s got songs in all sorts. He’s real popular, that Pharrell. A big shot, they say. Always wearing them funny hats. But he makes good music, can’t deny that. And seems like a nice enough fella. Always smilin’.

They give him awards too, you know? Grammys, I think they call ‘em. He got one for “Happy,” Best Pop somethin’ or other. They said it was the best pop song of the year back in two thousand and fifteen. He deserved it, I reckon. That song made a lot of folks happy.

He ain’t just about movies and music, though. Folks say he’s a “style icon.” That means he dresses real fancy, I guess. Always lookin’ sharp. Comes from Virginia, like me. Well, not exactly like me, but we both from the same neck of the woods, kinda. He went on to do big things, that’s for sure. Fifteen of his songs, they made it real high up on the charts, Billboard Hot 100 they call it. That’s gotta mean somethin’, right?

He’s one of them hip-hop fellas, they tell me. But his music, it’s different, you know? Not all that loud and angry. It’s got a good beat, makes you wanna dance. And that “Happy” song, well, it just makes you feel good. Can’t ask for much more than that, I suppose. So yeah, Pharrell Williams, he’s a big deal. Movies, music, fashion, he does it all.

And he keeps on working, making new stuff all the time. My daughter keeps me updated. She’s always listenin’ to the radio, watchin’ the TV. Says he’s one of the most “influential figures in hip-hop.” That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? But I get it. He’s a big shot, like I said. And he ain’t done yet, I bet. Still got plenty of music and movies left in him. We’ll see what he comes up with next.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ good to listen to, or a movie with a catchy tune, check out somethin’ with Pharrell Williams in it. You might just find yourself tappin’ your feet and feelin’ a little bit happier. And ain’t that what it’s all about?
