Alright, guys, so I’ve been wanting to build something different lately, something… modern. I’ve always been drawn to those sleek mountain houses you see in magazines, the ones with tons of glass and sharp angles. So, I decided to give it a shot myself. This is how it went down.

Getting Started (And a Little Overwhelmed)
First, I needed a plan. I’m no architect, so I spent a good chunk of time just browsing pictures online. I looked at a TON of different modern mountain houses, trying to figure out what I liked and what I didn’t. Pinterest was a big help. I made a board just for this project, pinning anything that caught my eye.
After a while, I started sketching. Just rough ideas, nothing fancy. I used a regular notebook and a pencil – old school, I know. My first few sketches were… well, let’s just say they weren’t great. But I kept at it, trying different layouts and rooflines.
Building My Digital Mountain House
So, after sketching i open software, i started to do a basic blockout of the house. I’m using pretty simple shapes at this point, just getting the overall form down.
- I started with the main living area, a big rectangular box.
- Then I added a second, smaller box for the bedrooms.
- I played around with the roof, trying a few different angled designs.
Then, started refining the shapes. I added some detail to the walls, like where the windows and doors would go. I also started playing with the terrain, adding a bit of a slope to make it look like it was actually on a mountain. And kept refining, adding more and more detail. I added some basic materials, just to get a feel for the colors and textures. I also started working on the interior, adding some furniture and lighting.
Getting it to Look Good
Then comes to final step, added some trees and rocks around the house to make it feel more integrated with the environment. I played with the lighting a lot, trying to get that perfect “golden hour” look.I spent a lot of time tweaking things, moving things around, and adding small details. It’s amazing how much of a difference those little things can make.

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out. It’s definitely been a challenge, but it’s also been a lot of fun. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually build a real one!
