Alright, so you wanna know about this West 11th Street in NYC, huh? Let me tell ya, it’s a place, that’s for sure. Heard folks call it the West Village, Greenwich Village, all sorts of names. Confusin’ as heck if you ask me, streets ain’t straight like they should be. You got 10th street crossin’ 4th street, makes no sense! But that’s just how it is, I guess.
What’s so special about it? Well, some say it’s real charming. Got them old brownstone houses, you know, the ones made of brick, all fancy lookin’. Trees everywhere too, makes it kinda shady and nice, specially in the summer. And the streets, they ain’t flat and boring, they got these cobblestones, bumpy little rocks. Pretty to look at, but a pain in the butt to walk on if you ain’t careful. Might trip and break your hip, then where you gonna be?
Now, this West 11th street, it ain’t a long one. Just a little bit between 4th street and Bleecker street, they say. But seems like a lot happens there. Lots of rich folks livin’ around, movie stars and big business people, from what I hear. Payin’ millions and millions for them houses. Crazy money if you ask me. What I’d do with that kinda cash, I tell ya…
- Got them fancy townhouses.
- Lots of trees and shade.
- Cobblestone streets, look nice but be careful!
They say it used to be a place for artists and free spirits, way back when. Bohemians, they called ‘em. Guess they liked the vibe, doin’ their own thing, not carin’ what others thought. Can’t say I know much about that, but sounds kinda wild. Nowadays, it’s all about the money, seems like.
Now, some folks think about movin’ to New York City, even this fancy West Village part. I hear it’s got its good and bad points, just like any place. Lots of things to do, that’s for sure. Parks and restaurants and all that. But livin’ here ain’t cheap, gotta warn ya. Rent’s high, food’s high, everything’s high! And it’s crowded, lots of people everywhere you go. Can be noisy too, cars and sirens all night long. Drives you nuts sometimes, I tell ya.
One house on West 11th, near 5th avenue, they say it’s shaped like a V. Ain’t that somethin’? Never seen a house like that before. Guess them rich folks like to be different. Always gotta have somethin’ special, somethin’ nobody else has.
There’s another West 11th street too, way out in Brooklyn. But that ain’t the one we’re talkin’ about. This one here, in Manhattan, Greenwich Village, that’s the fancy one. The one with all the money and the history.
So, is it worth livin’ there? Well, depends on who you are and what you’re lookin’ for. If you got deep pockets and like bein’ in the middle of things, maybe it’s for you. But if you’re like me, just a regular person, it’s probably too much. Too much noise, too much money, too much everything. I’d rather be someplace quieter, where I can sit on my porch and watch the birds without somebody tryin’ to sell me somethin’ or run me over with a bicycle.
But hey, it’s a place to see, that’s for sure. If you ever in New York City, take a stroll down West 11th Street, see what all the fuss is about. Just watch your step on them cobblestones, and don’t forget to bring your checkbook, you might need it! And remember what I told ya, it ain’t always what it seems. Pretty on the outside, maybe, but it’s got its problems, just like everywhere else. That’s the truth of it, plain and simple.
Thinking about moving to the West 11th Street? Like I said before, it ain’t for everyone. It’s got its good and bad points. Just don’t go in blind, you know? Do your homework, figure out if it’s really for you. Don’t be fooled by all the fancy talk and the high prices. It’s still just a place, a street, just like any other, in the end. But hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman with too much time on her hands.
