Okay, here is my blog about the “Kim Kardashian Yellow Dress”:

So, I saw this bright yellow dress that Kim Kardashian wore, and I just knew I had to try and make one for myself. I mean, who doesn’t love a good challenge, right? Plus, that color is just so vibrant, it screams “look at me!” which is totally my vibe sometimes.

First things first, I went online and looked up as many pictures of the dress as I could find. I needed to see it from every angle. Then I started sketching it out. It seemed simple enough, a bodycon style dress. It had a high neckline with a big cutout in the front.

Next, I went fabric shopping. I hit up every store in town. Finding the right shade of yellow was way harder than I thought it would be. Some were too pale, some were too mustardy. Finally, I found this perfect, vibrant yellow fabric, it was kind of a thick, stretchy material, just like Kim’s dress.

After that, I took my measurements and started drafting a pattern. I’m not a pro at this, but I’ve done it a few times. It took a couple of tries to get the fit right, especially around that front cutout part. I used some old bedsheets to make a mock-up. That way, I could make sure it fit before cutting into my good yellow fabric.

  • Measure and cut the fabric: This took a while, being extra careful not to mess it up.
  • Sew the side seams: I used my sewing machine for this, which was pretty straightforward.
  • Create the neckline: This was a bit tricky, I had to fold and sew it just right to get that clean look.
  • Create the cutout: I carefully marked and cut out the shape, and then finished the edges with a narrow hem.
  • Add the sleeves: The dress is sleeveless, so I skipped this step.
  • Hem the bottom: I did a simple hem along the bottom edge to finish it off.

I tried it on, and it was almost perfect. I just needed to make a few small adjustments to the fit. The cutout was the most difficult part, I ended up redoing it a couple of times to get it to lay flat. I sewed, and sewed, and sewed. This dress became my life for like, a week.

Finally, after many hours, it was done! I slipped it on, and honestly, I felt like a million bucks. It was bright, it was bold, and it was totally me. I even wore it out to dinner with my friends, and I got so many compliments.

It wasn’t exactly like Kim’s, but I was super proud of myself for making it. It was a fun project, and it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. Maybe I’ll try to recreate another one of her iconic looks in the future, who knows? If I do, you’ll be the first to know!
