Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try out some new fragrances, and I’ve always been intrigued by Issey Miyake. The brand just screams minimalist and sophisticated, and I wanted to see if their scents lived up to that vibe. So, I started my little experiment with their men’s line.

The Research Phase
First, I spent some time just browsing online, reading reviews, and trying to get a feel for the different options. I quickly realized Issey Miyake has a lot of fragrances. It was a little overwhelming, to be honest!
I narrowed it down to a few that seemed most popular and appealing, based on the descriptions:
- L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme (the classic, apparently)
- L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense
- Fusion d’Issey
The Testing Begins
Next, I headed to a department store that carried the brand. Smelling them in person is crucial, you know? You can’t just trust online descriptions. I sprayed each one on those little paper strips, carefully labeling them so I wouldn’t get them mixed up.
My initial impressions:
- L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme: Very fresh, citrusy, and a bit aquatic. I could definitely see why it’s a classic. It felt clean and versatile.
- L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense: This one was spicier and woodier than the original. It felt a bit more… evening-appropriate, maybe?
- Fusion d’Issey: This one was the most unique of the bunch. It had this interesting volcanic, mineral quality to it, along with some sweetness. Hard to describe, but intriguing!
Wearing Them Out
I took the paper strips home and kept smelling them over the next few days. I also managed to get some small sample vials of the L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme and Fusion d’Issey, so I could actually wear them and see how they developed on my skin.

Wearing the L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, I got a few compliments! It’s definitely a crowd-pleaser. It lasted a decent amount of time, too. The Fusion d’Issey was more of a personal thing – I enjoyed the unique scent, but it’s not something I’d wear every day.
The Verdict (So Far!)
After my little fragrance journey, I’m definitely a fan of Issey Miyake’s men’s fragrances. I think the L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme is a great everyday scent, and I’m considering getting a full bottle. Fusion d’Issey is interesting and I will use a sample vial, but it is not for everyday usage.
I’m glad I took the time to explore them! It’s always fun to find new things you like.
