Trying Out That Ryan Williams Eye Black
Okay, so I kept seeing Ryan Williams, you know, the scooter and BMX guy, pulling off these absolutely nuts tricks. And almost every time, he’s got that thick eye black on. Got me thinking, what’s the deal with his specific eye black? Is it different? Does it actually do anything special besides look intense? Decided I had to check it out myself.
Finding it wasn’t too hard, ordered a stick online. Showed up pretty quick. Packaging was simple, just the usual twist-up stick kind of thing. Looked like your standard eye black, honestly. Maybe a bit chunkier than some others I’ve seen around.
So, the first time I went to put it on, I just stood in front of the bathroom mirror. Twisted it up. Decided to go for those two thick lines under each eye, just like you see him wear. Putting it on was… alright. It went on thick, like really thick and dark. You don’t need to press hard at all. It felt a little waxy, I guess? Definitely made a statement right away.
Putting it to the Test
Didn’t have a mega ramp handy, obviously. So I figured I’d just wear it for an afternoon doing stuff outside. It was a pretty bright, sunny day – perfect for seeing if this stuff actually cut down on glare.
- Went for a long walk.
- Played some catch in the park later on.
- Got a bit sweaty doing that.
Did I notice a huge difference with the sun glare? Eh, maybe a little? It’s hard to tell definitively, you know? Sometimes you think it works just because you expect it to. But it felt like it might have helped slightly with the brightness bouncing off the pavement. What I did notice was that it stayed put really well. Even sweating a bit, it didn’t immediately start running down my face or smudging everywhere, which was good. It felt pretty comfortable too, didn’t really notice it on my skin after the first few minutes.

Getting it Off
Later that evening, time to wash it off. Hoped it wouldn’t be a nightmare. Used my regular face soap and water. It took a bit of rubbing, more than I expected. That thick, waxy texture meant it wanted to cling on. Had to wash my face twice, really working it in the second time, to get it all off. Didn’t leave any weird stains or anything, just needed a bit more effort than some lighter makeup or paints.
Final Thoughts
So, the Ryan Williams eye black. It’s definitely intense. Goes on thick, stays put pretty well, and looks the part if you want that serious athlete look. Did it magically improve my vision in the sun? Can’t swear to it, maybe marginally. It’s solid eye black, performs as you’d hope. The main things are it’s very dark and it lasts. Taking it off requires a little patience. Would I grab it again? Yeah, maybe, especially if I was playing sports on a really bright day or just wanted that specific look. It’s a decent product, does what it says on the tin, basically.
