Okay so yesterday my niece asked for help with her interview look, specifically about what to do with her hair. She had this big job interview and was stressing over it. I mean, girl’s hair was all over the place – literally. Frizzy ends, awkward length, just messy vibes.

First thing I did was grab my tools. Laid out the flat iron, some good hold hairspray, those little clear elastics, and bobby pins. You gotta have the right stuff ready, feels like prepping for battle almost. Watched a bunch of quick tutorials online too, just to refresh my memory since it’s been a minute since I did this.
Started by washing her hair – used that sulfate-free shampoo cause her ends get dry. Conditioned well, especially the tips. Towel-dried gently, no crazy rubbing. Then I sectioned her hair while damp. Made four parts: two in front by the face, one big middle section in back, and the very bottom layer.
Blow-dried each section slowly with a round brush. Took forever! Aimed the nozzle down the hair shaft to fight frizz. Her hair’s wavy so we had to really smooth it out. Once fully dry, hit it with the flat iron in small sections. Just one slow pass each, clamped near root and glided down. Smelled like hot hair for a good twenty minutes.
Now for the actual styling. Wanted something polished but not stiff. Decided on a low bun with face-framing pieces. Grabbed the top half of her hair, twisted it loosely, and pinned it into a loose knot at her nape. Left those two front sections hanging but tucked one piece behind her ear on the right side. Secured everything with like fifteen bobby pins – seriously those things disappear like magic.
Had a near disaster too. When spraying, I accidentally got a sticky spot near her left ear. Panic mode! Dabbed a tiny bit of baby powder on my fingers and rubbed it in lightly. Saved it from looking greasy. Finished with light hairspray all over, especially flyaways. Checked from all angles – front, sides, even made her turn around so I could see the back.

Final result? Clean, professional, but still showed her personality. Not super tight or painful looking. She loved how it framed her face without hiding it. Best part? She texted later saying the interviewer complimented her polished appearance! Felt awesome helping her feel confident walking in there. Makes all that arm-aching blowdrying worth it.
