Okay, so I’ve been seeing “maximalist fashion” trending everywhere, and, well, I’m a bit of a hoarder, so it seemed right up my alley. I decided to give it a go and document the whole messy process. Here’s how it went:

The Deep Dive (aka My Closet)
First, I dug through my closet. And I mean dug. I pulled out everything – clothes I’d forgotten I even owned, scarves from ten years ago, jewelry that probably should have been tossed. It was like an archaeological dig, unearthing layers of past fashion choices.
The Pile of “Possibilities”
Next, I created a massive pile on my bed. A mountain of textures, colors, and patterns. We’re talking velvet, sequins, stripes, florals… you name it, it was probably in there. I even found a feather boa I wore to a Halloween party once. Seriously, who keeps a feather boa?
The “Trying On” Frenzy
Then came the fun (and slightly chaotic) part: trying things on. I started layering like a crazy person. A striped shirt under a floral dress? Sure! A sequined jacket over that? Why not! I added necklaces – multiple necklaces, of course – and stacked bracelets up my arms. I even threw on a brightly colored scarf for good measure.
The Mirror, Mirror Moment
I looked in the mirror. Okay, initially, I looked like a walking, talking explosion of fabric. It was… a lot. But then I started tweaking. I swapped out a few pieces, adjusted the layers, and played with the accessories until I found something that felt… surprisingly good. It was bold, it was busy, but it felt me.
The “Do I Dare?” Phase
- It took a while, but i get some rules
- Different materials in same color.
- Using same materials.
- Same element in different items.
The final hurdle? Actually wearing it out. I felt a little self-conscious at first. I mean, I was definitely turning heads. But you know what? People were smiling. I even got a few compliments! I realized that maximalist fashion isn’t about looking perfect; it’s about expressing yourself and having fun with clothes. I never felt like a “fashion” person.

But after this experience, I do.
So, would I do it again? Absolutely! It was a blast, and it actually helped me rediscover some forgotten gems in my wardrobe. Plus, it’s a great excuse to wear all my favorite things at once. I do feel like a “fashion” person now.
