Well, ain’t this somethin’. Nowadays, they got these newfangled machines that can make a picture into a real thing. I heard some folks call it “3D printing”. Sounds like magic, if you ask me. My grandson, he’s always on that computer of his, he was showin’ me somethin’ about it the other day. Said you can make anything, even a car! Now, who needs a real car when you can print one, I reckon?
This whole thing starts with a picture, I think. Like a picture of that Cadillac I always wanted. A big, shiny, electric one. That’s the future, they say. You take that picture, and somehow, that computer does somethin’ to it. It’s like when we used to take a picture to the drugstore to get developed, only this time, it’s different. It comes into a solid object.
Electric Cadillac, Oh My!
I saw a show on that television about cars. Fast cars, fancy cars, and some cars that don’t even need gas! They plug ’em in, like a toaster. One of ’em was a Cadillac. Shiny and new. And quiet, too. Imagine that, a quiet Cadillac! I always wanted a Cadillac, but they was always so loud. Now you can print your electric Cadillac picture! This new electric one, though, that’s somethin’ else. You can make a picture into your dream car!
First, you gotta have a picture. Now, I ain’t no computer whiz, but I reckon you can find a picture of an electric Cadillac on that internet. My grandson, he can find anything on there. Pictures of cats, recipes for pie, even pictures of them electric Cadillacs.

Then, you need one of them 3D printers. Big, fancy machine. Looks like somethin’ out of one of them space movies. You put the picture file into the printer. They use a computer to do all that, and then the printer starts doin’ its thing. It’s like watchin’ a spider spin a web. The printer works to make the picture real. The material of the car may be the key to print the electric Cadillac. They say it takes a while, but when it’s done, you got yourself a little model. This is called “3D printing”.
Now, I don’t know if you can print a whole electric Cadillac, big enough to drive. Maybe someday. But for now, you can print a little one. A model. Somethin’ to put on your shelf.
My grandson, he printed me a little bird. A blue jay. He took a picture of one from a book and then made it into the right kind of file. This is called “create 3D printed city”. I don’t know the details, but it is amazing. Then, he put it in that 3D printer, and bam! There it was, a little blue jay. It ain’t perfect, mind you. A little rough around the edges. But it’s still somethin’. It seems like a easy way to create 3D printed city, right?
Printin’ Ain’t Just for Paper No More
They say you can print all sorts of things. Toys, tools, even parts for your house. It’s a whole new world out there. This 3D printing, it’s gonna change everything. You want a new doorknob? Print one. You want a new toy for the grandkids? Print one. You want a picture of that electric Cadillac? Print one.
It makes you think, don’t it? What else can we print? My bones started to ache and I can’t help thinking if we can print new bones someday. I don’t know the details but I know that it can make something real.
This 3D printing, though, it ain’t cheap. Them 3D printers, they cost a pretty penny. And the stuff you use to print with, that ain’t free either. But, I reckon, if you really want somethin’, like a model of that electric Cadillac, maybe it’s worth it. You need to find a good 3D printing service. They will help you to get the details.
It is amazing that you can make your ideas real. I am still confused about how to do it. Maybe I should ask my grandson to show me again. I have to go now, my favorite show is on.
