Okay so this fashion thing’s been messing with my head lately. One minute you’re cool, the next you feel totally lost. Saw that Alba Ferretti show popping up everywhere the other day and thought, right, gotta figure this out myself. Not gonna lie, felt a bit intimidated at first.
The Hunt Begins
Started simple: just hit my phone scrolling through stuff tagged “Alba Ferretti style”. Instagram, Pinterest, you name it. Saved way too many pics like a total rookie. Noticed a pattern though – lots of floaty things, layers, and these kinda soft colours like dusty rose and washed-out greens. Didn’t see any crazy tight stuff or loud patterns, felt way calmer than what I usually grab.
Time to actually leave the couch:
- Ransacked my own closet first like a wild woman. Pulled out every dress, skirt, and top that felt even slightly soft or floaty. Most got tossed back – too stiff, too bright, wrong cut.
- Found this old blush-coloured slip dress buried deep. Maybe? Grabbed it.
- Found a faded denim jacket. Still not soft enough though.
Figured I needed some key bits. Headed out hunting. Thrift store first stop. Goal: soft texture things. Pushed past racks of stiff stuff. Almost gave up. Then:
- Spotted a ridiculously soft, pale grey cardigan draped over a chair. Like butter. Snagged it.
- Felt this fabric a few racks down – flowy, loose cream top with those fluttery sleeve things. Perfect. Got it.
Making It Work (Almost Broke)
Back home, it felt like playing dress-up. Tried the slip dress first. Slung the pale grey cardigan over my shoulders casually. Meh. Too much slip, not enough structure. Changed track.
Put on simple slim black trousers – kept it grounded. Then the new cream flowy top. Big improvement. Added the soft grey cardigan knotted loosely around my waist instead of wearing it properly. Instantly felt more relaxed. Needed jewellery. Skipped the heavy chains. Picked up these tiny gold hoops I barely wear and a simple thin gold necklace. Minimal.

Shoes? Struggled. Tried heels – felt wrong. Comfy tan leather slides? Yes. Casual, easy. Felt like it fit the whole “effortless” vibe Alba had going on.
The final look:
- Black trousers
- Cream flowy top
- Soft pale grey cardigan knotted low on hips
- Small gold hoops & thin necklace
- Leather slides
Did I Nail It?
Honestly? Walking around felt weirdly chill and put-together, even in just comfy trousers and slides. It wasn’t about looking flashy, just kinda soft and relaxed but polished. Like I tried without trying too hard, you know?
Biggest takeaway? It’s the textures and how you put ’em together. The softness of the knotted cardigan and the flowy top made those simple trousers feel totally different. And keeping the colours super muted was key. Bright anything would’ve wrecked it. My wallet cried buying those pieces, but damn, it feels like a proper upgrade.
Might wear this combo again tomorrow. Feels good. Trend sorted? Hopefully!
