Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with the 1964 Chevrolet Malibu, written in the style and tone you requested:

So, I finally got my hands on a ’64 Chevy Malibu. Been dreaming about this car for years, you know? Always loved that classic look. This one’s a bit of a fixer-upper, but that’s half the fun, right?

First thing I did was just look at it. Seriously, just walked around it a bunch of times, taking it all in. The lines on this thing are just killer. Mine’s got some rust spots, especially around the wheel wells, but the body’s mostly straight. That’s a win in my book.

Getting Under the Hood

Next up, popped the hood. It’s got the original engine, which is cool, but man, it was dirty. Years of grime and who-knows-what else caked on there. I grabbed some degreaser and went to town. Took a while, but it’s starting to look a little more respectable under there.

  • Step 1: Spray everything down with degreaser. Let it sit for a bit.
  • Step 2: Scrub, scrub, scrub. Used a wire brush for the really tough spots.
  • Step 3: Rinse it all off. Repeat if necessary (it was necessary).

After that, I checked the fluids. Oil was low and looked like mud. Coolant was, well, I’m not sure what color that was supposed to be. Definitely needed to change all that out.

The Interior Story

The inside’s not too bad, actually. The seats are ripped, of course, but the dash is in pretty good shape. The original radio’s still there, which is awesome. I’m hoping I can get that working again.

I pulled up the carpet, just to see what was underneath. Found some old newspapers from the 70s, which was kind of a cool time capsule moment. Also found some more rust, but hey, it’s an old car. What can you do?

Then did a deeper clean work inside. I tried my best to clean as much as I could, and to be honest, that made a big difference!

What’s Next?

So, that’s where I’m at right now. It’s a project, for sure, but I’m stoked. My plan is to get it running reliably first, then worry about the cosmetics. I’m thinking a nice, classic paint job, maybe some new wheels… We’ll see. It’s gonna be a journey, and I’ll keep you guys posted!
