My process started with frustration
Honestly I felt lost picking outfits every morning. Closet jam-packed but nothing looked right. So I grabbed all my clothes and dumped them on the bed – total chaos just like my daily routine. Started sorting into piles by color first. Noticed right away I owned way too many black t-shirts.

The lightbulb moment
Remembered seeing fashion bloggers use “theme” systems. Thought: hell, why not test that myself? Made three simple buckets:
- Monday Minimalism – neutrals only, clean cuts
- Texture Tuesday – anything ribbed, knitted or fuzzy
- Wildcard Wednesday – mixing patterns deliberately
Testing phase disasters & fixes
Tried Minimalism Monday wearing beige on beige. Looked like a sack of flour. Realized neutrals need STRUCTURE. Swapped flowy pants for tailored trousers – instant upgrade. Texture Tuesday was worse – wore chunky sweater with corduroy pants. Resembled a walking carpet. Fixed it next week by balancing one statement texture with smooth basics.
Wildcard Wednesday? Total trainwreck. Stripes with florals made me dizzy. Kept it simple next time: one small polka dot scarf with solid everything else. Boom – looked intentional.
How it actually works now
Each night I literally spend 90 seconds choosing tomorrow’s theme. No more staring at clothes with coffee dribbling down my chin. Examples from yesterday:
- Minimalism: Charcoal trousers + white tee + navy blazer
- Texture: Silky cami under nubby linen jacket
- Wildcard: Leopard print flats with all-black outfit
The magic? Themes force creativity within limits. Like having training wheels for looking put-together. No more buying random pieces that don’t play well together. Saved money and sanity – double win!
