Okay, so today I wanted to try something a little different, a little out of my comfort zone. I’ve always been fascinated by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic fashion, and I thought, “Why not try to recreate some of her looks?” It sounded fun, and I figured it would be a cool way to experiment with my style.

First things first, I did some research. I spent a good chunk of time looking at pictures of Marilyn, you know, just trying to get a feel for her style. She had this amazing way of looking glamorous and effortless at the same time. It’s not just about the clothes, it’s the whole vibe, the attitude. I started with her most famous outfits – the white dress from “The Seven Year Itch,” the pink gown from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” and some of her more casual looks.
Next, I tried to find similar pieces. Now, I didn’t have a Hollywood budget, so I hit up some local thrift stores and online shops. It was like a treasure hunt! I was looking for anything that captured that 50s glam – high-waisted skirts, form-fitting dresses, and anything with a bit of sparkle. I’m not gonna lie, it was tough. Finding stuff that fit right and had that vintage feel wasn’t easy. But I managed to snag a few pieces that I thought would work.
Then came the fun part – putting the outfits together. I started with a simple white halter dress, similar to the one Marilyn wore in “The Seven Year Itch.” I paired it with some white heels and some simple jewelry. It felt a bit strange at first, not my usual style, but once I got the hair and makeup right, it started to come together. For the hair, I tried to mimic those iconic blonde curls. Let me tell you, it’s harder than it looks! I ended up using a ton of hairspray and bobby pins. The makeup was all about the red lips and winged eyeliner, classic Marilyn.
- Attempt 1: White halter dress, white heels, simple jewelry.
- Attempt 2: Pink fitted dress, similar to the one from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” I couldn’t find an exact replica, but I found a similar style in a vintage shop.
- Attempt 3: High-waisted jeans and a simple black top for a more casual Marilyn look.

Honestly, it was a blast. I felt like I was channeling a bit of that old Hollywood glamour. It’s amazing how clothes can change the way you feel. I definitely felt more confident and, dare I say, a bit more glamorous. It was also a good reminder that fashion should be fun. It’s about expressing yourself and trying new things. It’s not about being perfect, it is about feeling good in your own skin.
Would I wear these outfits every day? Probably not. But it was a fun experiment, and I’m glad I tried it. It’s always good to step outside of your comfort zone every once in a while. You might be surprised at what you discover about yourself and your style. So, yeah, that was my Marilyn Monroe fashion adventure. Maybe I’ll try another icon next time. Any suggestions?
