Okay, so I wanted to try and put together some fall dress outfits for 2014. I’m no fashion expert, but I figured I’d give it a shot and see what I could come up with.

First, I started by browsing online. I just looked at a bunch of pictures of fall dresses – different styles, colors, you name it. I saved the ones I liked to a folder on my computer, just to keep track of everything.
Then, I went through my own closet. I pulled out all my dresses and tried to see which ones might work for a fall look. I had a few that seemed promising, mostly darker colors and some with longer sleeves.
Next, I started mixing and matching. I took the dresses I had and tried them on with different cardigans, scarves, boots, and tights. It was kind of a mess at first, with clothes all over my bed!
Trying Stuff On
- Tried a burgundy dress with a chunky knit cardigan. It looked pretty cozy, but I wasn’t sure about the colors together.
- Put on a dark green dress with a black leather jacket. I kinda liked the edgy vibe, but it felt a little too…intense?
- Combined a floral dress, a scarf, and boots.
I took some pictures of the outfits I liked best. It helped to see them on “film” instead of just in the mirror. I asked my friend for her opinion, too. She’s way better at this stuff than I am.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally found a few combinations that I felt good about. It wasn’t perfect, and I’m sure a real stylist could do better, but I was pretty happy with what I created!

It ended as a funny project!
