Okay, so I saw this “everyone watches women’s sports” shirt design floating around, and I thought, “I gotta make one!” It looked simple enough, and frankly, I was itching for a new project.

First, I grabbed an old, plain white t-shirt from my closet. You know, the kind that’s been washed a million times and is super soft? Perfect for this. I laid it out flat on my work table, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles. Wrinkles are the enemy of a good transfer!

Next up, I needed to actually make the design. I’m no graphic designer, so I kept it simple. I just opened up a basic word processing program and typed out “everyone watches women’s sports” in a bold, blocky font. I played around with the sizing until it looked right – big enough to be seen, but not so big it wrapped around my sides.

Then, I printed the design onto some iron-on transfer paper. I made absolutely sure I was printing on the correct side of the paper – I’ve messed that up before, and it’s a sticky, inky nightmare. Trust me, double-check!

Once it was printed, I carefully cut out the design, leaving a small border around the letters. Some people use fancy cutting machines, but I just used regular scissors. I’m all about keeping things low-tech when I can.

Time for the Iron!

I heated up my iron to the setting recommended on the transfer paper instructions. Usually, it is Cotton/Linen setting, no steam. Positioned the design face down on the shirt, right where I wanted it. I made sure that the shirt positioned in the center of the area I’d wanted.

Then, with firm, even pressure, I ironed over the transfer paper. I moved the iron slowly and steadily, making sure to cover every part of the design. I followed the instructions that I need to hold the iron for the whole time around 2 minutes. I do not want my design peeling off after one wash!

After ironing, I let the shirt cool down completely. This is important! Don’t get impatient and try to peel off the paper while it’s still warm. You’ll probably ruin it.

Once it was cool, I slowly peeled off the backing paper, and… there it was! My very own “everyone watches women’s sports” shirt. It wasn’t perfect – a few tiny imperfections here and there – but I made it myself, and that’s what counts.

  • Grab a T-shirt.
  • Print the design.
  • Cut out the letters.
  • Iron it on.
  • Let cool down
  • Peel off paper.

The whole process took maybe an hour, tops, and now I have a cool new shirt to wear. Not bad for a lazy Sunday afternoon project!
