For me, it wasn’t really about her specifically. It just reminded me of this whole period where I was trying to get my own stuff online. Not celebrity pics, mind you, just my own project stuff. I was working on setting up a simple portfolio site. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Wrong.
My Little Website Struggle
I figured, hey, I’ll just grab a template, upload some images of my woodworking projects, write a bit, done. But man, it was one headache after another. First, finding a decent hosting thing that didn’t cost a fortune or plaster ads everywhere. Spent days comparing options.
Then, the template I picked looked great in the demo, but getting my pictures to fit right? Nightmare. Everything was stretching weirdly or getting cut off. I remember spending an entire weekend just messing with image sizes and wrestling with the CSS. What’s CSS? Don’t ask me the technical term, it’s just the code that makes things look pretty, or in my case, look like garbage.
- Trying to center a title took me like, two hours.
- Making sure it looked okay on a phone screen? Another whole day.
- Then the contact form just wouldn’t send emails. Just wouldn’t work.
All this time, you see stuff online blowing up – celebrity news, gossip, whatever. And I’m just sitting there, sweating over why a picture won’t align properly on a webpage hardly anyone will even see. It felt kinda ridiculous.
I got it working, eventually. Sort of. It’s still clunky, needs updating. But that whole process, starting with seeing some trending name and ending up deep in website code frustration, it just shows how you can start down one path online and end up somewhere totally different, usually wrestling with something far less glamorous than you expected.
It wasn’t about looking at specific photos or anything like that buzz suggests. It was just the trigger. Seeing a name associated with being ‘online’ and ‘visible’ just threw me back to my own clumsy attempts at getting something, anything, visible online myself. And failing miserably for a good while. That’s the real practice part, the actual trying and failing and trying again.
