Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this Dua Lipa gal and that Callum fella. Heard ’bout ’em on the TV while I was eatin’ my grits this mornin’. Seems like they’re all the rage now, these young’uns.
Dua Lipa and this Callum Turner, they’re a pair, I tell ya. Like two peas in a pod, always stickin’ together. Seen ’em in them magazines at the grocery store. Pretty as a picture, both of ’em. She’s got that fancy hair and them sparkly clothes, and he’s a handsome fella, gotta give ’em that.
They say they’re “hot” in Los Angeles. Hot? Shoot, I’m hot when I’m standin’ over the stove cookin’ supper! But I guess it means somethin’ different for them city folk. Means they’re popular, like everyone’s lookin’ at ’em. Kinda like when the preacher’s wife got that new hat last Sunday, everyone was starin’ then too.
- Seen ’em in Ibiza too, them pictures they took. Can’t keep their hands off each other, they say. Well, young love, I reckon. Reminds me of me and old Jed back in the day. ‘Cept we didn’t have no fancy cameras followin’ us around.
- And at some party, somethin’ about Vogue and diamonds. Annabelle’s, they called it. Sounded real fancy. Bet they had them little finger sandwiches, the kind you can eat in one bite. I like a good ham sandwich myself, gotta have that mustard though.
Now, they say Callum’s her boyfriend. Boyfriend, girlfriend, it’s all the same to me. Means they like each other a lot, spendin’ all their time together. Hope they’re happy, these two. Life’s too short to be fussin’ and fightin’. Gotta find yourself someone who makes you laugh, someone who’ll hold your hand when things get tough.
Heard they went to Kosovo too, some kinda music festival. Sunny Hill, they called it. Sunny Hill, that sounds nice. Reminds me of my old place back home, had a little hill in the back where the kids used to play. Kosovo though, that’s far away, ain’t it? Never been anywhere that far myself. Closest I got was that trip to the state fair back in ’78. Won a blue ribbon for my apple pie, I did.
This Dua Lipa, she sings, don’t she? Heard her on the radio a few times. Got a powerful voice, that one. Like a church bell ringin’ on Sunday mornin’. Don’t know what this Callum fella does, but he must be somethin’ special if he’s with her. Probably got a good job, wears a suit and tie, maybe. Or maybe he’s one of them actors, the ones that pretend to be other people. Always thought that was a funny way to make a livin’.
Anyway, they seem happy, these two. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Happiness is the most important thing in life. Can’t buy it, can’t borrow it, gotta find it yourself. And maybe, just maybe, these two young’uns have found it with each other. Good for them, I say. Good for them.
So, there ya have it. That’s all I know ’bout this Dua Lipa and Callum Turner. Just a coupla young’uns in love, makin’ their way in the world. Reminds me of a simpler time, when life was slower, and love was easier. But then again, maybe love’s always been the same, no matter the time or place. Just two people, findin’ each other in this big ol’ world.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. Don’t want ’em to burn. And maybe I’ll turn on that radio and see if I can hear that Dua Lipa singin’. Might just tap my feet a little, remember what it was like to be young and in love.
