Dream Big: See the Most Expensive Homes in the United States

Alright, let’s gab about them fancy houses, the ones they call the “most expensive homes in the United States.” I ain’t never seen nothin’ like ’em, but I heard tell they’re somethin’ else. You know, the kind with more bathrooms than folks in my whole holler.

So, I hear there’s this place down in Naples, Florida, called Gordon Pointe. Folks say it’s worth a whopping $295 million! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I ever even dreamt of. They say it’s got its own white sand beach and all. Must be nice, I reckon, though I’m partial to my own little creek back home.

  • They say it’s got a big ol’ house, and two smaller houses for when company comes. Sounds like a lot of cleanin’ to me.
  • This fella, John Donahue, made his money in some kinda business up in Pittsburgh. Good for him, I say. He musta been a hard worker.
  • It’s right on the water, too. The Gulf of Mexico, they call it. I bet the fishin’s good.

Now, they also got these other places, out in California way. Atherton, they call it. Silicon Valley. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They say houses there cost, get this, ten million dollars! And that’s just the regular ones, I guess. For that kind of money, you could buy half the county I live in!

I don’t rightly know why them houses cost so much. Must be somethin’ special about ‘em. Maybe they got gold faucets or somethin’. Or maybe it’s just the land. They say land’s worth a lot, especially when there ain’t much of it left.

I saw on the TV once, these folks sellin’ houses. They call ’em “real-a-tors” or somethin’. They take pictures and show ’em off to folks with deep pockets. They got these fancy websites, too, where you can look at all the purty houses. Makes my little place look like a shack, but it’s home, and that’s what matters.

And then there’s this thing called “Zestimates.” I ain’t sure what that is, but it sounds like they try to guess how much a house is worth. Sounds like a fool’s errand to me, but I guess them city folk like to keep busy with such things.

They also talk about houses that have been sold. The most expensive ones, you know. Different states have different expensive houses, I reckon. It all depends on where you are and what kind of fancy stuff folks want.

I heard tell some of these houses got movie theaters, bowling alleys, and even swimming pools inside! Can you imagine? I just got a washtub and a creek, and that’s good enough for me. But I guess if you got the money, you can spend it how you please.

It’s a whole different world, them expensive houses. Makes you wonder what it’s like to live in such a place. Do they have to worry about the same things we do? Do they have to fix their own leaky roofs or swat mosquitoes? Probably not. They probably got folks to do all that for ’em.

Anyways, that’s what I heard about them expensive houses. Makes for good gossip, I suppose, even if I can’t even fathom livin’ in one. Me, I’m happy with my little place and my garden. It ain’t fancy, but it’s mine. And that’s worth more than all the money in the world, far as I’m concerned.

So next time you hear about these million-dollar mansions, remember that money ain’t everything. It’s the people and the memories you make that truly make a house a home, no matter how big or how small. And that’s the truth, as sure as I’m sittin’ here.
