Trying Out the 2015 Look

Okay, let’s talk about 2015 men’s fashion. I remember that year quite well because I decided it was time to, you know, change things up a bit with my style. Wasn’t getting any younger, and my usual stuff felt kinda dated.

So, first thing I did was just look around. What were guys wearing? I started noticing stuff more, like on the street, maybe flipped through some magazines at the barber’s. Didn’t really do much online searching back then, not like now. It was more about observing.

What caught my eye? Well, a few things stood out:

  • Skinny jeans were everywhere. Absolutely everywhere.
  • Those haircuts, you know, shaved sides and long on top? Undercuts, I think they called ’em.
  • Bomber jackets seemed to be making a comeback.
  • Certain kinds of sneakers and boots, like Chelsea boots maybe?

Right, so seeing all this, I thought, “Why not give it a try?”. I wasn’t gonna go crazy, but I wanted to test the waters.

My Experiments Back Then

First up, the skinny jeans. Went to a store, picked up a pair. Man, they felt tight. Like, really tight. I wore them out a couple of times. Honestly? Not for me. Just wasn’t comfortable moving around. Felt kinda restricted. So, that was a quick experiment. Ditched those pretty fast.

Then, the haircut. I actually did this. Went to my barber, showed him a picture I’d seen. He buzzed the sides way down, left the top longer. It felt weird at first, especially feeling the cold air on my scalp! Took some getting used to, styling it every morning with some product. Kept that look for a while, actually. It wasn’t too bad, felt kinda modern at the time.

Next, the bomber jacket. Found a simple black one. This one I liked. It was easy to wear, just throw it on over a t-shirt or a simple sweater. Felt casual but a bit more put-together than just a hoodie. Yeah, the bomber jacket was a keeper. Wore that thing quite a bit through fall and into the next spring.

Shoes… I think I got some new sneakers. Not the super chunky ones yet, more like cleaner, simpler designs. White sneakers were starting to get popular again, I think. I grabbed a pair. They were versatile, went with jeans (not the skinny ones!) and chinos. Easy choice.

What I Learned

So, yeah, that was my little fashion adventure in 2015. It was basically trial and error. Some things, like the skinny jeans, were a total miss for me personally. Others, like the haircut and the bomber jacket, worked out okay for a time. The main thing I figured out was, you gotta try stuff to see if it fits you and your lifestyle. Just ’cause it’s trendy doesn’t mean it’s comfortable or practical for everyone.

Looking back, it’s kinda funny to see how styles change so fast. But that process in 2015, just trying things out, it was a good reminder to not get stuck in a rut and be open to updating your look now and then, even if you end up sticking mostly to what feels right for you.
