Okay, so the other day I got it into my head that I wanted to mess around with a 1977 Pontiac Firebird. Don’t ask me why, it just popped into my head. Maybe I watched too much Smokey and the Bandit as a kid.

Getting Started

First things first, I needed to find some decent references. I mean, I know what a ’77 Firebird looks like, but I wanted to get the details right. So, I spent a good chunk of time just browsing pictures online. Lots and lots of pictures. Trying to find good angles, you know? Front, back, sides, engine bay… the works.

The Build

After I felt like I had a good handle on the car, I started the fun part. Well to begin with, I grab some used auto parts and started taking it apart.

  • The Body:I started to do the repair and repainting of the bodywork.
  • Engine: I began to overhaul the engine, and some parts that could not be repaired were directly replaced with new ones.
  • Wheels and Suspension:I did a deep clean and restoration of the hubs and suspension.

Putting it all together

After all that hard work, it was time to put everything back together. It sounds simple, it took forever, making sure all the wires were connected right, all the bolts were tight, everything was lined up… But, man, seeing it all come together? Totally worth it.

The Final Result

And there you have it! A completely self-restored 1977 Pontiac Firebird, it runs great, looks great, and sounds great!
