Bringing Back 2009 Style Trends: Easy Style Guide.

Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about 2009 style trends making a comeback, and honestly, I was both intrigued and a little scared. I mean, some of those looks were…bold, to say the least. But, I figured, why not dive in and see what all the fuss is about? So, I started by digging through my closet.

My Deep Dive into 2009 Fashion

I pulled out a few things I thought might fit the bill – some old skinny jeans (thankfully, I never threw those out), a couple of graphic tees, and even a studded belt I completely forgot I owned. I also went online and did some quick searches, just to refresh my memory on what exactly was popular back then.

It was a real trip down memory lane! I remembered things like:

  • Super skinny jeans, often tucked into boots.
  • Long, flowy tops, sometimes with a “boho” vibe.
  • Lots of layers – think cardigans, scarves, and vests.
  • Bold accessories, like chunky necklaces and those aforementioned studded belts.
  • Graphic tees, especially band tees or anything with a “vintage” look.

After refreshing with all of that, I decided to try the trends.

Putting it all Together

First I tried pairing the skinny jeans with a longer, looser-fitting t-shirt. It actually didn’t look half bad! I added the studded belt, which felt a little weird at first, but it kind of pulled the whole thing together. I even found an old pair of ankle boots that worked perfectly. The fit was good, and the styles that I tried really suits me!

Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Some of the 2009 trends are actually pretty wearable, especially if you mix them with more modern pieces. I’m not sure I’ll be rocking the full-on 2009 look every day, but I can definitely see myself incorporating some of these elements into my current wardrobe.
