Okay, so yesterday I was getting ready to head out, and I decided I wanted to try something a little different with my makeup since I was wearing this killer blue dress. Thought I’d share how it went down.

First things first, I washed my face. You gotta start with a clean slate, you know? Then, I slapped on some moisturizer. My skin gets dry super easily, so this is a must. I let that sink in for a few minutes while I grabbed all my makeup stuff.
Next up was primer. I used a pore-filling one on my T-zone ’cause those pores are HUGE. After the primer, I went in with my foundation. I used a damp beauty sponge to blend it all out. Blending is key, people! No one wants to see a foundation line.
Concealer time! I put some under my eyes, on my chin, and on any little blemishes I wanted to hide. I blended that out with the same sponge. Then, I set everything with some translucent powder. I baked under my eyes for a bit to make sure it didn’t crease.
Okay, now for the fun part: the eyes! I decided to go for a gold and bronze look to complement the blue dress. I started with a light brown shade in my crease as a transition color. Then, I packed on a shimmery gold shade all over my lid. I used my finger for this – the pigment shows up better that way. Next, I took a bronze color and blended it into the outer corner of my eye to add some depth. I smudged a little bit of the bronze color along my lower lash line, too.
Eyeliner was next. I went for a simple winged liner using a liquid liner pen. It took me a few tries to get the wings even, but I eventually got there. Then, I curled my lashes and applied a couple of coats of mascara. Falsies would have been awesome, but I was running late.

For my cheeks, I used a peachy blush and a golden highlighter. I applied the blush to the apples of my cheeks and the highlighter to my cheekbones, brow bone, and the inner corner of my eyes. Gotta get that glow, you know?
Finally, I finished off the look with a nude lipstick. I lined my lips first to make them look a little fuller. And that was it! I sprayed some setting spray all over my face to make sure everything stayed put all night.
I gotta say, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The gold and bronze really popped against the blue dress. It was definitely a fun look to experiment with! Snapped a few selfies, felt good to get ready and hit the streets. Maybe I’ll try something even bolder next time.
