Ballet flats with ankle strap: how to find the perfect pair and style them right

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with these ballet flats with ankle straps lately, and I gotta say, it’s been quite the journey. Started off a bit clueless, to be honest. I mean, how hard could it be to style ballet flats, right? Turns out, it’s not just about slipping them on and calling it a day.

First thing I did was try to pair them with everything in my closet. Yep, everything. From my ripped jeans to that fancy dress I wore to a wedding once. The results? Let’s just say it was a mixed bag. Some combos worked, others, not so much. I quickly learned that the ankle strap makes things a tad more complicated. It’s like, it adds this detail that you can’t just ignore.

My Styling Experiments

  • With Dresses: I tried a flowy sundress first. It was a decent look, pretty feminine, and the ankle strap added a nice touch. Felt like I could go to a picnic or something.
  • With Jeans: Then I moved on to jeans. Cropped jeans worked better than the full-length ones. Made my legs look a bit longer, which is always a plus. A striped shirt on top, and I felt like I was nailing that casual chic thing.
  • With Skirts: Skirts were a bit tricky. Mini skirts were a no-go for me, but a midi skirt? That worked surprisingly well. Gave off a bit of a sophisticated vibe, especially with a tucked-in blouse.
  • With Shorts: Shorts were fun! I paired the flats with some tailored shorts, and it felt like a good balance between comfy and put-together. Definitely a look I’d wear for a casual day out.
  • With tailored Pants: A lightbulb moment! Tailored pants! They looked surprisingly good with my ballet flats, especially when the pants were slightly cropped to show off the ankle strap. Felt very polished and put together.

And hey, I even tried different colors. Nude flats did make my legs look longer, but then I got these bright red ones, and whoa, they totally changed the game. My wardrobe is mostly black, so that pop of color was a nice change. Also, I figured out that I needed to go half a size down with these. Who knew, right? It’s little details like that, which make a big difference.

So, yeah, that’s been my experience with these ankle strap ballet flats. It’s been fun experimenting and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. I definitely feel like I’ve upped my style game a bit. Still learning, but hey, that’s half the fun, isn’t it?
