Okay, so I wanted to snag all those books in Persona 4 Golden, right? You know, for the Compulsive Reader achievement. It’s a bit of a pain, but totally doable if you’re organized. Here’s how I went about it, from start to finish.

Getting Started – Knowing the Basics
First, I realized I couldn’t just buy all the books at once. They become available at the bookstore in the Shopping District, South, but only on certain dates. And some books? You can only get them by doing specific things, like certain quests or social link events. Total drag, I know.
My Book-Hunting Strategy
I started by making a list. Seriously, a physical, handwritten list. I wrote down every book title, when it became available (or how to get it), and checked them off as I went. I used some of those guides and that had these tables with that dates.
I didn’t want to look at a guide to avoid spoilers.
- April 20th: The first book, “The Lovely Man,” popped up. I grabbed that immediately. Made a note – bookstore, check!
- May and onwards: I made sure to visit the bookstore religiously on the specific dates new books came out. I’d mark my calendar on my phone with reminders, because ain’t nobody got time to miss a book.
- Quests and Stuff: Some books, like “Witch Detective” and “The O-Cha Way,” I got from those little side quests. I just made sure to talk to everyone and do all the quests I could find. Easy peasy, just a bit time-consuming.
- The Fishing Struggle: Oh man, the fishing books. You need to catch a specific fish for one, and then trade it with the old guy for “The Catch,” and THEN catch another huge fish and trade for “World Class Bugs”. This part took me a while, mostly because I’m terrible at the fishing minigame. Just gotta be patient, I guess.
- Social Links: Don’t forget those! A couple of books, like “Short on Cash” and “Changing Careers”, I got from hanging out with the Strength and Temperance social links. Just gotta make sure you’re leveling those up.
Keeping Track and Reading
So, every time I got a new book, I marked it off my list. And I made sure to read them as soon as possible. You can read at your desk at home, or sometimes during class if you have enough Diligence. I found that reading two chapters per book, at home before bed, was the most efficient way to power through them. You know, boost that Knowledge stat while you’re at it.

Finally Done!
It took a few in-game months, but I finally got them all! That “Compulsive Reader” achievement popped, and I felt pretty good. It’s not hard, just requires being organized and patient. And honestly, some of the books were actually kind of interesting to read. Go figure.
So yeah, that’s my story of conquering the books in Persona 4 Golden. Hope this helps someone out there!
